Why we built this

Cloud and AI pricing pages are a maze of per-million-token rates, read units, pod-hours, and percentage fees. A model that costs $0.002 per 1K tokens sounds cheap until you realize your chatbot is sending 4,000 tokens per turn at 10,000 requests a day — suddenly you're looking at an $800 monthly bill you didn't budget for.

We built APICalculators because we kept running into this problem ourselves. Before choosing between Pinecone and Qdrant, before picking an auth provider, before deciding whether to self-host an LLM or use an API — we needed to know the real cost. Not the marketing page headline. The actual number at our actual scale.

The goal is one fast place to sanity-check infrastructure costs before shipping to production — without spreadsheets, signups, or sending any usage data to third parties.

Every calculator runs entirely in your browser. We never see the numbers you enter. No accounts, no tracking of your inputs, no cookies beyond basic analytics.

What we cover

🤖 LLM APIsGPT-4o, Claude Sonnet, Gemini Flash, Llama — cost per request, per day, per month, by model and context length.
🧊 Vector DatabasesPinecone, Supabase, Qdrant, Weaviate, Chroma — from index size and query volume to monthly bill.
🎨 AI Image GenerationDALL·E 3, Stable Diffusion, Midjourney, Flux — per-image and per-month budgeting.
💳 Payment ProcessorsStripe vs Paddle vs Lemon Squeezy vs PayPal — real fee comparison on your actual transaction volume.
☁️ Cloud VPS & ServerlessHetzner, DigitalOcean, AWS Lambda, Cloudflare Workers — compute costs at your traffic level.
🔐 Auth ProvidersClerk, Auth0, Supabase Auth, Cognito — monthly cost by MAU tier.

Our methodology

Every calculator uses published, public pay-as-you-go pricing sourced directly from each provider's official pricing page. We review and update prices monthly — and when a provider changes their pricing mid-cycle, we update within days.

Where providers use complex multi-dimensional pricing (storage + queries + egress, for example), we build transparent simplified models and clearly label outputs as estimates. We'd rather give you an honest order-of-magnitude number than a falsely precise figure that hides its assumptions.

For LLM calculators, we use the providers' published input/output token prices. We do not include fine-tuning, batch discounts, or enterprise contract pricing unless explicitly noted — those vary too much by customer to be useful as defaults.

How we stay free

APICalculators is and always will be free to use. The site is supported by display advertising and, in some cases, affiliate partnerships with infrastructure providers we'd recommend regardless. Affiliate links are always disclosed, and they never influence the math in the calculators or how we present comparisons.

We do not sell user data. We do not run paywalls. We do not require email addresses. The calculators are a public resource — that's the whole point.
